BASF’s global training network is growing

-New Refinish Competence Center in Vietnam
-Facilities upgraded in Clermont, France, and Sydney, Australia
-New centers in Italy and the United States to follow

Münster – 22 August 2012 - BASF’s global training network is growing. In Vietnam, a new Refinish Competence Center (RCC) has just opened, and in the United States and Italy, new training centers are in the pipeline. The additional network of training competence centers further strengthens BASF’s position as a leader in the industry focused on customer intimacy and education.

Spanning the globe from various Asia Pacific countries including Australia and China, to the United States, France and Germany, BASF offers training for its customers at the Refinish Competence Centers. The training network comprises more than 50 training centers, where painters practice and perfect the use of automotive paints. At the RCCs, participants learn from professional trainers who share industry knowledge and tips the participants need for high-quality and technically perfect automotive refinishing. Innovative products and techniques also deliver a high return on investment for the participants.

In 2011, approximately 12,000 painters attended training courses at the RCCs worldwide with global demand constantly increasing. For instance, in the region of Asia Pacific, every year over 2,000 painters from various bodyshops participate in professional training courses at one of the RCCs. “These days, painters need more than traditional training. For this reason, we offer training courses at the RCC’s that focus on both the quality and the efficiency of the seminar participants,” said Ken Marshall, head of Automotive Refinish Coatings in Asia Pacific. BASF plans to accommodate the increasing number of training requests in the future. To this end, BASF teamed up with a company that imports BASF automotive refinish coatings into Vietnam – to build a new RCC in Hanoi, Vietnam.

In regions around the world, BASF is expanding its network of Refinish Competence Centers. In Italy, an RCC is under construction in Cesano Maderno. At the same time, plans for the construction of a new RCC in Atlanta, Georgia, United States, are in full swing. The RCC is scheduled to begin operations with high-quality and modern equipment, starting in mid-2013.

In order to meet the increasing demand for equipment, customer service and professional training, two existing RCCs are now being renovated: the center in Sydney, Australia, and the RCC at Indonesian importer Refinish Excellence in Jakarta. Additionally, the RCC in Clermont, France is under construction for a full upgrade.

BASF Coatings develops, produces and markets a high-quality range of innovative automotive OEM coatings, automotive refinishes and industrial coatings as well as decorative paints. BASF has significant market positions in the Coatings sector in Europe, North America, South America and the Asia Pacific region. In 2011 BASF Coatings achieved global sales of 2.8 billion Euros.

BASF is the world’s leading chemical company. BASF posted sales of about €73.5 billion in 2011 and had more than 111,000 employees as of the end of the year.
