Sumitomo Rubber breaks ground for new agricultural equipment tire factory in Thailand

22 August 2012 - On August 2nd, Sumitomo Rubber (Thailand), a 100% subsidiary of Sumitomo Rubber Industries, Ltd. in Kobe, Japan, held a groundbreaking ceremony at the future site of its newest factory, which is currently under construction in Amata City Industrial Estate in Rayong Province, Thailand. This factory will be Sumitomo Rubber Group’s first overseas factory to produce tires for use in agricultural equipment. 

The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by approximately 100 people, including Sumitomo Rubber Chairman Mino, Sumitomo Rubber (Thailand) President Nagahata and representatives from construction companies. 

The total investment will be approx. 10 billion yen and the plant is scheduled to start production in May 2014.
