Bentley to relocate Americas’ Headquarter from Boston, Massachusetts to Herndon, Virginia

Boston - 05 September 2012 - Bentley Motors, Inc., the sales and marketing arm for Bentley Motors in the Americas, today announced that it will relocate its corporate headquarters from Boston, Massachusetts to the offices of Volkswagen Group of America in Herndon, Virginia as part of a strategic realignment of its regional operations. 

Commenting on the changes, Christophe Georges, President & COO for Bentley Motors, Inc., said, "The U.S. is our biggest market and the relocation will allow Bentley to focus our resources on our brand and to take further advantage of synergies with the Volkswagen Group here in the U.S." 

“We welcome the Bentley team to our Volkswagen Group of America headquarters,” said Jonathan Browning, president and CEO Volkswagen Group of America. “Our greatest strength is the power of our iconic brands across the globe. As each of these brands grows, the supporting administration also needs to grow. By having Audi, VW, Lamborghini and now Bentley in the same location, we can provide that support so each of the brands can continue to focus on its unique position in the marketplace.” 

The move will provide Bentley with an even sharper focus on the important Americas’ markets and enable increased efficiency and cooperation with its VWGoA counterparts. The headquarters relocation is expected to be completed by the end of 2012. Additional details concerning the move will be announced in the coming months. 

Bentley Motors is the third largest R&D investor in the UK's automotive sector and the 18th largest nationally. The company employs around 4,000 people in Crewe which is home to all its operations including design, R&D, engineering and production. The combination of fine craftsmanship, using skills that have been handed down through generations, alongside engineering expertise and cutting-edge technology is unique to UK luxury vehicle manufacturers such as Bentley. It is also an example of high-value British manufacturing at its best. Bentley exports over £500m worth of goods every year to established markets like the US, as well as emerging markets such as China and South America. 

Bentley’s global sales for the first half of 2012 increased by 32% with 3,929 cars delivered to customers and all global regions up on the same period in 2011. The Americas regained their position as Bentley’s largest market, with sales up 25.7% (1,140 cars delivered), but the China region continues to follow closely behind with sales up 55.7% (1,059 cars delivered). 

Bentley Motors, Inc. is the sales, marketing, distribution and aftersales channel for the Bentley brand in The Americas. Nearly one in every three Bentley products sold worldwide is delivered to a customer in the Americas. Bentley Motors, Inc. has 40 employees and 48 retail locations throughout the region.
