German Certification Company DQS-UL Opens Office in Cork, Ireland

03 September 2012 - Leading certification company, DQS UL, which has offices in over 80 countries worldwide, has just opened its Irish office, based in Cork.

Due to create 15-20 jobs, 5 of which will be full time positions, DQS Ireland will provide world recognised management systems certification to professional companies, in all industries throughout Ireland. DQS Ireland will also provide supplier audits and assessments for companies on their management systems worldwide as well as international audits when required on any international suppliers.

The expansion into Ireland will have huge benefits for companies based in Ireland who are currently sourcing their management systems certification from outside of Ireland. Now they will have a world recognised and renowned resource on their doorsteps, with direct links into almost every territory in the world. As the business community in Ireland looks globally for more opportunities, having a leading world brand like DQS based in Ireland can open up new markets and opportunities. So for example if an Irish company uses a Pakistani supplier, DQS can certify that company from their Pakistani office, so the system is streamlined, impartial and transparent. Corporations can take comfort in the impartiality, rather than leaving certification to their suppliers.

Managing Director Bernard Connery stated “We are delighted to have set up a base in Ireland. As a nation we are respected for our industry standards and procedures. Many people may not be aware that Ireland was one of the leaders in the harmonisation of standards globally, which led to the International Organisation for Standardisation. DQS was among the first in the world to issue certification for ISO back in the early 1980s, and has been a world leader in certification since then. In reality, our expansion into Ireland reflects the rapidly growing client base we have achieved here, due to the high proportion of corporations based in Ireland, but it is a symbiotic relationship, as it allows industry in Ireland to flourish, with increased access to international markets.”

Speaking at the launch this afternoon was Minister for Innovation and Research, Sean Sherlock TD, said “I am delighted to be here today to officially open the Irish branch of DQS. Job creation and expansion of global companies into Ireland reflect the forward momentum of the Government's Action Plan for Jobs. Companies like DQS who are trying to create a bigger market for Ireland rather than taking a share of the market, boost industry here at home. Recognised certification of industry standards, as provided by DQS, can only work to reinforce Ireland's reputation nationally and globally as we strive to advance economically, and place ourselves as market competitors across all sectors of industry.”

With more than 25 years of experience and more than 100 standards and specifications in its portfolio, DQS UL Group ranks among the leading certification bodies for management systems in the world. Headquartered in Germany and with nearly 80 offices in almost 60 countries, its 2,300 auditors provide first class assessment services to many prestigious international organizations with over 45,000 certificates issued worldwide.
