Logwin opens branch in Rijeka, Croatia

Grevenmacher, Luxembourg – 19 September 2012 - Since 1 August Logwin now also has its own office in the Croatian port of Rijeka. There the logistics service provider mainly handles warehousing and customs clearing as well as land transportation and sea freight transports for its customers. With the new branch Logwin now employs more than 100 people in Croatia and operates seven locations in Erdut, Osijek, Rijeka, Sveta Nedelja, Tovarnik, Vukovar and Zagreb.

The branch in Rijeka is located just 500 metres from the Brajdica Container Terminal. At the new location employees plan and implement transport solutions for all important industries in the region, including retail customers, for example. “We’re expecting growth in sea freight shipments starting in July 2013,” says Sasa Baleta, Country Manager Croatia at Logwin. Croatia’s joining the EU will simplify trade with the other countries of the economic union.

Rijeka is the third largest city in Croatia, the second largest economic centre and has the country’s largest commercial port. Rijeka also is an important port for other Eastern European countries like Serbia, Macedonia and Bosnia: due to the port’s advantageous location on the Adriatic Sea it serves as the gateway into and out of the interior of Eastern Europe for the transport of goods. Capitals such as Belgrade, Bratislava, Budapest, Sarajevo and Vienna are all only around 500 kilometres away.
