Hino Motors JV with MBMR to establish manufacturing plant in Malaysia

28 September 2012 - Hino Motors, Ltd. (Hino) has entered into a joint-venture agreement with MBM Resources Berhad (MBMR) regarding the establishment of a manufacturing plant in Malaysia. MBMR is Hino’s local partner who holds a 42% share in Hino’s sales subsidiary, Hino Motors (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd. (HMML). 

The new joint-venture manufacturing company will be called Hino Motors Manufacturing (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd in which Hino will own a 58% share with the remainder held by MBMR. Initial investment will be RM140 million (equivalent to JPY3.45 billion.) A new manufacturing plant, with approximately 10,000 units of annual production capacity, will be located in Sendayan TechValley, Negari Sembilan. Construction is scheduled to begin in February 2013 and completed by the beginning of 2014

Malaysia is, for Hino, the third largest market in Asia which it recognizes as its foundation market, following Indonesia and Thailand. The new manufacturing plant will produce a steady supply base for the domestic market, and will contribute to further strengthening Hino’s business base in Asia.
