Stream Global Services expanding operations in Nova Scotia, Canada

- Four hundred new jobs may be created in Glace Bay over the next five years

04 October 2012 - Working with the province, through Nova Scotia Business Inc. (NSBI), Stream Global Services will be expanding its existing operation. Stream currently employs several hundred technical support, customer service and management personnel in Glace Bay

"We're investing in growing the economy for the benefit of Nova Scotians - putting the jobsHere plan into action," said Deputy Premier Frank Corbett. "We are using tools like the performance-based incentive with Stream Global Services to encourage this new employment in the Glace Bay area."

Nova Scotia Business Inc. and Stream have signed an incentive agreement. After the company creates new jobs, Stream may earn a maximum payroll rebate of $2,593,050.

"Glace Bay is an important element of our global network and particularly within our North American presence. We are pleased to be working with NSBI and the province to help support potential growth here in Nova Scotia." 

Stream Global Services has about 50 service centres worldwide, including several in North America. The company has been operating in Glace Bay since 2001. 

"With client demand driving plans for Stream to expand worldwide, NSBI's work with the company is focused on helping that growth happen in Nova Scotia," said Stephen Lund, president and CEO of NSBI. 

The payroll rebate is an earned incentive paid annually once an employer has achieved pre-determined hiring targets. Under payroll rebate agreements, for every dollar an eligible employer spends in salary in Nova Scotia, NSBI rebates between five and 10 cents.
