Danske Bankas plans to hire 300 new employees in Lithuania

- Some activities of DB Group Services transferred from Denmark to Lithuania
Danske Bank currently employs 379 people in Lithuania

09 November 2012 - Danske Bankas plans to hire 300 new employees. The new jobs are being created at the bank due to the transfer, this year, of some of the activities of DB Group Services from Denmark to Lithuania.

In Lithuania, DB Group Services is established as a separate unit of Danske Bank A/S Lithuania Branch, in which a total of 300 specialists of banking processes and payment administration, as well as specialists with broader banking expertise will be employed by the end of 2013. Some of the functions of the Danske Bank Group were transferred to Lithuania with a view to taking advantage of the wide coverage of the Group’s infrastructure, improving the services provided, and optimising costs.

Availing of opportunities offered by different geographical locations is a continuous process. We are not a single-country bank but rather operate throughout the Nordic and Baltic region, for which reason, thanks to these changes, we can create added value both for our customers and for the economies of the countries in which we operate; we can also increase the efficiency of our operations,’ Gintautas Galvanauskas, Director General of Danske Bankas, said.

According to Mr Galvanauskas, since the bank is looking for specialists with a wide variety of qualifications, this presents new opportunities for the Lithuanian labour market and for young specialists. The Director General of Danske Bankas noted that Lithuania was chosen as the location for the new unit because of the country’s favourable macroeconomic environment—regardless of the ongoing troubles in the eurozone, Lithuania continues to demonstrate fairly rapid economic growth.

Danske Bank currently employs 379 people in Lithuania. The bank has 12 customer service branches in the country’s main cities.

The Danske Bank Group with its headquarters in Copenhagen is one of the largest banks in terms of assets in the Northern European financial market and the largest bank in Denmark. Its share capital amounts to 16,9 billion Euros. The Group operates in 15 countries, it has more than 660 bank units and employs almost 22,000 people.
