FedEx Express Opens New Facility in Dubai, UAE

- New facility in Al Garhoud is the 4th and largest FedEx station in the U.A.E 

Dubai, U.A.E. - 06 November 2012 - FedEx Express, a subsidiary of FedEx Corp. and the world’s largest express transportation company, is further increasing its presence in the U.A.E. and expanding its commercial footprint in Dubai. The new facility in Al Garhoud was officially inaugurated today. 

Celebrating more than 20 years of business in the region, this expansion is indicative of the company’s continual growth and commitment to customers in the Middle East. The 59,000 square feet facility is a new office for more than 200 FedEx Express employees, and houses a brand new operations station, the 24/7 Customer Service Call Center and a Retail Service Center. 

The opening of the facility is another milestone for FedEx in the region. Last year, the company celebrated the opening of a 48,000 square feet facility in the Jebel Ali Free Zone (JAFZA). In 2011, FedEx also launched its new B777 Freighter intercontinental flight route, which provides significant service improvements for customers shipping between North America and the Middle East.

The investment in the Garhoud facility is in line with FedEx’ strategy to continue offering outstanding services that fit our customers’ needs”, said Gerald P. Leary, President of FedEx Express Europe, Middle East, Indian Subcontinent and Africa. “Dubai has, and continues to be at the center of our regional operations, as a result of its access to large regional and global markets, its open trade and investment policies, as well as its strong macroeconomic environment”, adds David Ross, Senior Vice President of FedEx Express Middle East, Indian Subcontinent and Africa Operations. 

The new facility in Al Garhoud is the fourth and largest FedEx station in the U.A.E. Incorporating state-of-the-art technologies and advanced package processing systems that can sort up to 3000 packages per hour, inbound and outbound shipments are now processed faster - enhancing the overall customer experience. The facility also serves as the eighteenth Retail Service Center in the country, making it convenient for customers to drop-off and pick up their packages. 

Providing a safe and collaborative environment for team members, the facility adheres to high standards of health & safety best practices, while also enabling increased productivity.
