Sidel opens new packaging & tooling center in Pune, India

25 January 2013 - Sidel has set up a dedicated Packaging & Tooling Center in Pune to offer customers in India a more local service and, in doing so, meet the growing demand in this market for the latest in bottle packaging technology. The new center is specially designed to offer customers an improved regional service - part of Sidel's commitment to providing global experience backed by local support. Sidel is currently operating six similar Packaging & Tooling Centers around the world.

The official opening of the new Packaging & Tooling Center proved to be the highlight of Sidel's 'Value Creation' day held end of 2012. This provided the perfect opportunity for customers in India to see for themselves what Sidel is now offering from the new Indian facility. The event gave the company the chance to introduce the new Packaging & Tooling Center to customers, whilst demonstrating the most recent innovations in the liquid foods packaging industry. Sidel is able to add significant value in terms of both reliability and creativity through its extensive experience in developing many such innovations.

The desire to provide a more local service lies at the heart of Sidel's Packaging & Tooling Center strategy. From bottle design to line engineering, from offer to commissioning and complete life cycle management, the centers offer all of Sidel's global competencies on an integrated, local scale. The Packaging & Tooling Center in India, focuses on the specific requirements of the growing Indian packaging industry. Andrew Pooch, SEAP zone Vice-President at Sidel explains "The Packaging & Tooling Center in Pune is the best solution to support this growth. In the future, we will be better able to serve customers in this region, by building closer working partnerships with them and offering shorter delivery times."

Sidel already operates six other Packaging & Tooling Centers around the world: two in China and one each in France, Mexico, Brazil and the USA. Sidel decided to open the Packaging & Tooling Center in India as a result of specific requirements in the Indian market. Sidel's new Packaging & Tooling Center now offers customers in India the benefits of closer proximity, which facilitates service with greater flexibility, reactivity, interaction and better cooperation. Sidel's objective is to be close to customers in order to meet their expectations by offering them only optimized solutions and services.

India is one of the most rapidly developing economies in the world. Soft drink sales, for instance, are growing at an annual rate of nine percent. In the entire country with its 1.2 billion inhabitants, 'per capita' consumption of soft drinks has increased from 2.9 litres in 2006 to 6.4 liters in 2011. Rising incomes and health-consciousness are pushing sales of bottled water, as well as low-calorie carbonated beverages. In future, time-to-market will be key for customers and Sidel's new Packaging & Tooling Center can now help to provide the right solutions.
