Ericsson to open new facility in Querétaro, Mexico

27 February 2013 – To increase the capabilities of its Global Service Center in Mexico, Ericsson will open a new 8,000 m2 facility in Empresalia, the biggest corporate campus of Querétaro state. The new facility will help to develop human resources for the Global Service Center, and also support its activities.

The Querétaro facility will also house a Global Network Operation Center, incorporating all of the latest technology for remote monitoring and administration of network operations for Ericsson’s global customers. It will deliver planning, design, implementation and support services to customers in the Americas and Europe.

Ericsson manages networks that serve more than 950 million subscribers worldwide, and supports networks that serve more than 2.5 billion subscribers. To meet the needs of this large number of people, Ericsson delivers services locally in 10 regions and remotely from four Global Service Centers located in Romania, India, China and Mexico. More than 15,000 Ericsson employees work at the Global Service Centers worldwide, including more than 2,000 at the center in Mexico, and it is expected that this number will continue to grow.

During the expansion process, Ericsson has been supported by Mexico’s Ministry of Economy and ProMéxico, a government institution that champions the country’s participation in the global economy and encourages foreign investment.

Humberto Rezende, Head of Global Service Center Mexico, says: "We’re very grateful for the support we have received from the Mexican Government during the process of expanding our Global Service Center in Mexico. Mexico has been a strategically important country to our business ever since we won a concession to operate the telephone network in Mexico City in 1905, and our operations there enable us to serve customers around the world."

Ericsson operates in 180 countries and employs more than 100,000 people. Founded in 1876, Ericsson is headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden. In 2011 the company’s net sales were SEK 226.9 billion (USD 35.0 billion)
