Denmark’s COWI to Open Design Centre in Vilnius, Lithuania

18 March 2013 – Denmark’s COWI will open a design centre in April in Vilnius, Lithuania. The centre will take advantage of Lithuania’s growing pool of designers and will provide internal marketing and design support. COWI is a leading global engineering, economics and environmental consultancy with presence in 24 countries and more than 6,200 employees.

COWI’s expansion follows its investment last year in an IT service centre in the country. The centre outperformed its team growth benchmarks by over 20% and helped strengthen COWI’s overall global competitiveness. The success of their first investment influenced the company’s decision to expand again in Lithuania.

Andrius Koncius, Managing Director of COWI Lithuania believes investment in Lithuania has already added to COWI’s bottom line. Koncius stated that the IT service centre allowed COWI “to deliver world class competencies at a competitive price. He attributed COWI’s IT service centre success to similar cultures and ways of thinking between Scandinavians and Lithuanians. “The high quality skills, dynamism and perfectionism of young Lithuanians add to the country’s great credentials”, he added.

“We are delighted Lithuania attracts investors with innovative thinking, who dare to discover new kinds of investment opportunities,” stated Milda Darguzaite, Managing Director of Invest Lithuania. “COWI’s success proves the quality of young Lithuanian professionals is exceeding the demanding requirements of an increasing number of world-class service providers who call Lithuania home.” Lithuania has an abundant high-quality labour pool of designers and engineers. Each year universities and colleges produce over 700 design-related graduates.
