Serco Opens New Delivery Centre in Cape Town, South Africa

01 March 2013 - Serco has opened a new business process outsourcing (BPO) delivery centre in Cape Town, South Africa. The new centre, located in the Cape Town Central Business District, is expected to accommodate over 500 new employees and serve a range of international and domestic customers in sectors such as banking, insurance and retail. 

"South Africa is the largest economy in Africa and is emerging as a destination of choice for Global BPO companies. We are extremely pleased that Serco has made the decision to locate its first centre in Africa here in Cape Town," CEO, Business Process enabling South Africa (BPeSA), Gareth Pritchard, said. 

"I am delighted to be opening our first centre in Africa. In recent years, South Africa has emerged as a key global BPO destination with a highly skilled labour force and state of the art infrastructure. In addition, we expect the domestic market to offer important opportunities, especially in the country's established industries such as banking, financial services and Insurance (BFSI), telecom, manufacturing and mining," Susir Kumar, Executive Chairman, Serco Global Services said. 

"South Africa brings to the table a large talent pool with good quality English skills, besides other European language capabilities and domain expertise in sectors such as Financial Services and Insurance. Our expansion into this market will enable us to bring our global best practices and BPO expertise to the South African and broader African markets and drive better outcomes for our clients," CEO of Serco Global Services - Africa, Middle East, Asia & Australia (AMEAA), Bhupender Singh, said. 

The Cape Town operation will complement Serco's existing 100 global BPO centres across geographies including the United Kingdom, India and Poland, offering high quality English and other European language skills to Serco's customers around the world.
